Is Pokerstars Rigged? Find Out Today!

Posted in Art and Entertainment on 21.03.09

The gambling world has blown out of its previous horizons when it ventured into the World Wide Web-opening avenues for new approaches to old, time-tested, and proven games, but also for controversy regarding these games. With the reality of hackers, rigging, and programming mixed into the picture, the online gambling industry on the internet today is and perhaps forever will be rife with allegations-at times revelations-of rigging. The same rings true for the game of Poker. Even in real life a poker game can be rigged, taking it into cyberspace delves it all the more into the realms of rigging. So many players in the world's largest poker room today, Pokerstars, are asking: is Pokerstars rigged?

Unfortunately, no hands down yes or no answer can be provided to this debacle of such proportions that if proven true, could easily become a multi-million dollar rigging scheme that would make it into the poker books. So the answer to the question is Pokerstars rigged, would end up having probabilities and percentages as answers. So if someone might upfront ask, is Pokerstars rigged? It's rigged as much as any casino game or gamble is to start with-that is to say, all players involved have equal chances in the beginning, and possibilities and odds depend on the players' cards and playing. So in this sense asking "is Pokerstars rigged?", would then branch out to several aspects of how it can be rigged, such as assigning variable handicaps to players that would dictate their cards to outright giving better cards to some and thus abysmal hands to others.

Well, Pokerstars itself would give us a plain and simple no-Pokerstars is not rigged. Considering everything that they may lose if ever it was proven they rig their online poker rooms, this 'no' might actually hold water. After all, getting to the number one spot in the competitive online poker world doesn't only depend on marketing and features, but also on the basis that Pokerstars is clean and thus would warrant the users' trust. Personally it pains me to think that such greed exists as to increase revenue such as that from Pokerstars by rigging games online-though this greed might actually be. But when it comes to the players, a considerable number think and feel Pokerstars is rigged-especially those who lose a lot in it. But, if we're talking odds here, it would be best to back claims with statistics and data. After all, complaints and just simple allegations without hard evidence won't heft weight when it matters. And here on this aspect, the allegations of rigging lose out to claims of clean and fair play; the rigging allegations don't have enough solid ground to stand from, not enough evidence.

Is Pokerstars rigged? Considering most of available data and comparing 'evidences' from both sides, it would be safe to say that on a 65-35 percent ratio, Pokerstars is not rigged. Well then maybe they rig it at certain or random times and not all the time? That's another matter, and the debate would go on.
